Our commitment
African data governance is one of the cross-cutting threads of ALMS 2026. It would be paradoxical to discuss it without leading by example. EVIAL Group is committed to protecting your data with the same rigour advocated during the Summit: minimisation, explicit purpose, informed consent, right of access and compliance with African and European regulations.
Data controller
The controller of data collected via the Site is EVIAL Group, whose head office is at II Plateaux, Cocody 7e tranche, Immeuble KAY Center, rue L 129, 27 BP 823 Abidjan 27, Côte d'Ivoire.
For any question regarding your personal data or to exercise your rights, you may write to secretariat@africalastmile.com.
Data collected
Depending on your interaction with the Site, we collect the following categories of data:
- Identification data: last name, first name, salutation, role, organisation, country.
- Contact details: email, telephone, postal address if necessary for sending the badge or materials.
- Registration data: fee category, vertical of interest, sessions selected, dietary requirements.
- Payment data: transaction reference only. Card numbers and mobile money credentials never transit through our servers (see section 06).
- Submitted content: scientific abstracts, Hackathon projects, Investor Corner pitches, contributions to the Abidjan Declaration.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, session duration, for security and audience measurement purposes.
Purposes and legal bases
We process your data for the following purposes:
- Management of registrations and Summit participation (performance of the contract).
- Issuance of badges, access management, on-site security (legitimate interest and legal obligation).
- Scientific evaluation of abstracts and selection of startups for the Investor Corner and the Hackathon (performance of the contract).
- Sending information related to the Summit (programme, speakers, changes) — performance of the contract.
- Marketing communication (newsletter, future editions, thematic content) — only with your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.
- Production of the Africa Last Mile Index 2026 from aggregated and anonymised data (legitimate interest).
- B2B matchmaking and networking via the Summit platform — only with your consent.
- Accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation).
Retention period
Your data is retained for the time strictly necessary for the intended purpose:
- Registration and participation data: 3 years after the edition you attended, for statistical and historical purposes.
- Billing data: 10 years (accounting and tax obligation).
- Marketing data: until consent is withdrawn, and at most 3 years after your last interaction.
- Technical data (logs): 12 months maximum.
Recipients and processors
Your data is accessible only to authorised EVIAL Group personnel and to technical processors bound by a confidentiality agreement and a compliance commitment:
- Vercel Inc. (United States) — web hosting, SOC 2 Type II certified.
- Supabase Inc. (Singapore, EU infrastructure) — database and authentication, GDPR-compliant.
- PayPal (Europe) — international card payment processing.
- Paystack (Nigeria) — mobile money and UEMOA card payment processing.
- Resend (United States) — sending of transactional emails (confirmation, badges).
- Sentry (United States) — technical error monitoring (pseudonymised data).
No data is sold or transferred to third parties for commercial purposes. Sponsors and partners receive only aggregated statistics, never individual data, except with explicit consent given during booth visits or B2B meetings.
Transfers outside Africa and the EU
Some of our processors are located outside the ECOWAS area and the European Union. These transfers are governed by the mechanisms provided for under the GDPR (standard contractual clauses) and Ivorian law no. 2013-450 on the protection of personal data.
Your rights
You have the following rights at any time:
- Right of access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: request the deletion of your data, subject to our legal obligations.
- Right to portability: receive your data in a structured and machine-readable format.
- Right to object: object to processing for marketing purposes or on legitimate grounds.
- Right to restrict processing.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
- Right to issue post-mortem directives regarding the fate of your data.
To exercise these rights, write to secretariat@africalastmile.com and attach a copy of an identity document. We respond within one month.
Lodging a complaint with an authority
If, after contacting us, you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with:
- ARTCI (Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Côte d'Ivoire) — www.artci.ci for residents of Côte d'Ivoire.
- CNIL (French Data Protection Authority) — www.cnil.fr for residents of the European Union.
- The competent data protection authority in your country of residence.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256 encryption at the database layer). Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel, requires strong authentication and is logged. We conduct regular security reviews and apply critical updates without delay.
